Christian Education

Our Christian Education programs invite people of all ages to participate in the ministries and missions of Christian faith. These programs include Sunday church school, learning center events, adult education opportunities, second hour activities (following Sunday worship), youth fellowship and service programs, and confirmation instruction for ninth graders.

Church School is offered Sunday mornings, from September through mid June, for children ages kindergarten through grade 8.  Children generally begin their Sunday morning in Worship with their families, and leave for church school at a designated time.  Child care is available for infants, toddlers and preschoolers in our Toddler Room.

During our 2017-2018 program year, our Sunday School students will be learning about parts of the worship service and the scripture lesson being read each Sunday.  They will bring a letter home to their parents/guardians that day with questions and possible discussion topics that will promote conversation between the adults and the youth.  Those young people are pretty insightful!

As I write this, we have 2 more Sundays to collect cans of soup – and we are already at 100 cans!  Thank you to everyone for your generous contributions!

Each year the American Savings Foundation accepts applications for college scholarships thru the Robert T. Kenney Scholarship Program.  This year they will be awarding over $750,000 to up to 400 new and returning college students for the 2018 – 2019 academic year.  If you are a senior in high school or attending college, please see me if you would like further information.

I am hoping to schedule some “outside of church” activities for our middle/high schoolers.  A short brainstorming session was held recently to get some ideas of areas of interest.  Events will be posted here, in the newsletter and in the Sunday bulletin.  Sharon Chamberlain
